Before I became a therapist, I was searching for something I couldn’t name. I was meeting new girlfriends for coffee, listening as they spoke freely about their emotions, noticing how naturally tears and feelings moved through them. And quietly, I wondered why that didn’t happen for me.
Instead of tears, I felt a lump in my throat and a heaviness in my chest—like emotion was there, but trapped just beneath the surface.
That question led me to Internal Family Systems therapy. And slowly, gently, my inner world began to open. IFS didn’t just help me feel again. It transformed my life.
I followed that transformation into formal training, into graduate school, and into the work I now feel deeply called to do. Supporting others as they reconnect with their emotions, their inner clarity, and their capacity to heal has become my life’s purpose.
